Westwood Football moves to 2-0 with Victory over Akron-Westfield

The Westwood Football team moved to 2-0 with a 34-6 victory over Akron-Westfield. After a scoreless first quarter, the Rebels broke through on a 56 yard run by Tanner DeVries. Zach Ulven carried it in from 8 yards out on the next Rebel possession, giving the team a 14-0 halftime lead. The Westerners marched it down the field and scored on their first possession of the second half but it was all Rebels from there with 2 touchdown runs by Brad Steinhoff (58yds & 4yds) and another by Hunter East (6yds). Offensively, Steinhoff led the charge with 126 rushing yards, followed by East (117) and DeVreis (94). Defensively, Zach Greder had 8 tackles, including three for loss. H was matched by Dillon Hinrickson's 8 tackles with two for a loss. Zach allen intercepted two Westerner passes while Steinhoff had a fumble recovery. Overall, the Rebels had 386 yards of total offense compared to A-W's 175. Next week the Rebels travel to Oakland, Riverside for the first of 7 district football contests.
