RESOURCES—YOU ARE NOT ALONE
1) Amy Wiseman, Elementary Counselor & Connie Smits, Secondary Counselor
Westwood Counselors work with students and families to coordinate mental health services for children and families and connects families to needed resources in the community. They also refer students and families to our Social Worker.
2) 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices.
3) Your Life Iowa
Your Life Iowa is a 24 hour help line with text and chat capabilities. It provides suicide support, bullying support, and other resources for parents and students. It includes warning signs, risk factors, and how to support others.
4) Safe+Sound Iowa
Safe+Sound Iowa—an anonymous reporting tool for students, teachers, parents, and community members to help identify and provide intervention for students in crisis before they harm themselves or others. Reports of safety concerns can be made securely and anonymously three ways: (1) Download the free Safe+Sound Iowa mobile app (2) Visit Safe and Sound Iowa “Make A Report” (3) Call 800-224-6018.
